Microblogging and Advertisting Data Mining Challenge

KDD Cup Workshop

As planned, we will hold a KDD-Cup workshop dedicated to the contest, where the winners will be announced and describe their methods. The workshop will take place on August 12st (morning session) as part of the KDD conference in Beijing. We plan a vibrant meeting with an opportunity for exchanging experience and opinions about the dataset and the contest. Please note that attending the workshop requires registration to the KDD conference; full instructions are given here. Please note that the early registration for KDD ends on June 29th as well as Visa requirements for travel to China.

Presentations

Presentations at the workshop will be by invitation. We will invite the leading teams to publish at the workshop, either as an oral presentation or as a poster. Poster presenters will present their work during the major poster sessions of the KDD conference. Additionally, workshop publications will be considered for a special JMLR W&CP volume. In order to publish at the workshop, at least one author must attend the event. Invited authors will have to notify us by June 15th on their intent to participate, provide a name of a registered KDD author, and the title of the paper. This is in order to allow us to invite alternative speakers in a timely manner.

Call for Papers

Participants of the 2012 KDD CUP are encouraged to submit papers describing your algorithms and experiences, and insights, successful or not, regardless whether you are currently on the top of the leaderboard. The deadline for paper submission is July 10th and should be emailed in pdf format to claudia.perlich@gmail.com. All submitted papers will be evaluated by the workshop program committee based on relevance and interest of the community, taking performance into account. Please include the name of your team in your submission. Authors of these papers are strongly encouraged to attend the workshop. A smaller set of selected papers will also be published later in JMLR proceedings.

Instructions to Authors

Workshop submissions should be as pdf and formatted as a double column ACM SIG proceedings paper http://www.acm.org/sigs/publications/proceedings-templates with 6-8 pages. Submission date will be July 10 (unless authors were invited late). In order to save space and duplicate dataset description, authors are encouraged to use the following citation for a detailed description of the dataset:

Yanzhi Niu, Yi Wang, Gordon Sun, Aden Yue, Brian Dalessandro, Claudia Perlich, Ben Hamner "The Tencent Dataset and KDD-Cup'12". KDD-Cup Workshop, 2012.

Papers that do not meet the formatting requirements will be rejected. For accepted papers, authors will have the opportunity to revise their papers in response to the reviewers before final submission for publication in the proceedings.
